Novel

Meredith Calloway and Roland Goodman were children when his father’s broken pocket watch slipped into a Wyoming pond…right before his father’s fists found him. Meredith never forgot the fear in his eyes that day, or the train she convinced him to jump.

Years later, Meredith is grown, gun-trained, and desperate to prove she belongs at her brother’s detective agency, the one founded by her whip-cracking idol, Lula Mae. Meredith’s torn between two men: steady, capable Ledge Prettydog, and Roland, the boy who once needed saving and has come back into her life courting her instead.

Then Roland admits the truth. He’s trapped in his father’s old gang, and leaving means dying. Meredith risks everything to get him out. But the gang has a ransom in mind that isn’t money: that same broken watch, still lost in the pond where it fell years before. Only Meredith might know where to find it, and what she pulls from the water will decide whether Roland lives to propose marriage to her.

Fans of Lula Mae will recognize the same fire in her protégé; a woman who’d rather race toward danger, wedding veil and all, than wait safely on the sidelines.

Charlene Raddon

In 1980, a vivid dream inspired Charlene Raddon to launch her writing career. Her first novel, a
time-travel romance, is still awaiting its debut. Her second book, Tender Touch (Brianna), won
the Colorado Gold historical division and later became an RWA Golden Heart finalist. This
success earned her a three-book contract with Kensington Books. In 1999, she temporarily
stopped writing after the historical romance market took a nosedive, but reclaimed her rights.

In 2011, she reissued her backlist as eBooks through Tirgearr Publishing. Print editions of Taming
Jenna and Tender Touch were released in 2012.

Charlene designs all her own covers. In 2012, she launched silversagebookcovers.com, designing book covers for other authors with a focus on
Western historical romances. While growing up near Los Angeles, Charlene longed for life in a
small town, and in 1971, she relocated to Utah. Now she balances family life alongside traveling
with an ever–growing graphic design business while mentoring other writers, as well as writing her own Western historical romance novels.
